In light of recent world events, many of us have heard some very pointed generalisations. One is this statement:
Muslims are taking over the world.
What are your opinions about this statement?

i find nothing wrong with the muslim religion itself and i think it is quite racist to stereotype muslims.
All the ideas that Muslims are terrorists are being supported by politicians who are supposed to be fair.
It is fair to say that people are scared of Muslims for the negative exposure of them when really they are normal people.
I believe that there a some corrupt middle-eastern people who are trying to take over,
but it is unfair to stereotype all muslims and say that they all want to take over the world.
I absolutely agree with s jetson. Muslims are regularly portrayed by the media as terrorists. This is racist and is definitely not accurate. This is just the media abusing their role and trying once again to give us a wrong perspective of world events.
Fantastic comments s jetson and c ferguson! You guys are so right! The media is a powerful agent in stereotyping and exacerbating negative images of Muslim people. We are people who are accustomed to being given 'biased' perspectives by those that love to manipulate others' views. We have to be careful to expose these truths and have the integrity to unearth these generalisations!

I know a Muslim, and he's a very intelligent person, and in no way a terrorist.
In contrast, the opinion that Christians are taking over the world would be far closer to the truth. Countries such as Norway have been invaded by Christianity, and, as most Norwegians were Pagans, Christians tried to convert most of them to Christianity. And when people like Varg Vikernes tried to reclaim their native religion, he was tried by a jury consisting entirely of Christians, and sentenced to twenty-one years in prison.
Most politicians are Christians, and our countries laws are based upon those in the Bible. Christian holidays are huge, with shops massively reducing their prices for them. I don't see why people are blaming Muslims for becoming more widespread.

Christians converting people does no harm whatsovever. If before they believed in nothing, at least now they have a religion. And there must be something appealing about Christianity to convert people.
Those people you are talking about now have a chance to go to heaven when before, they would have gone no where. And P Vann, if you don't believe in Heaven or the Christian faith, why does it worry you so much. Either way, they still have nothing.

I prefer to live my live in truth, and experience my life in a way that I view as very positive. That's why I'm an Atheist.

Except for telling people how they should live their lives. Is it right that there are young children hospitalized every year because they fear that, if they don't live their lives like God intended them to, they'll rot in Hell for eternity?

To quote "Born" by Nevermore:
"Religion changed the face of man, thou shalt not kill, we all are gone. The seed of ignorance is born, thou shalt not think, thou shalt conform." I don't see how having a religion is a plus, as it is simply a way to live your live by the rules of others. It may just be me, but conforming is far from a good thing. What's appealing about Christianity? The fact that the people who are taught about Christianity are taught about a loving God who created all and is all powerful. That certainly is appealing. However, if you analyse the Bible, you'll find that things are not as good as they are made out to be.

And if Heaven doesn't exist, they're throwing away their only chance at living their own life. What is it that you think worries me so much? I simply posted a comment that was a more realistic look on which group of people is really taking over the world. I'm not taking any shots at any religion. People can believe Christianity if they wish to, and I hold no grudge against them. However, I also have religious views, and if people are to try to hand up prophecies to me as though they are pure fact, I see myself as having the right to use evidence to prove that the prophecies don't mean much at all.

I've yet to be made exceedingly happy by a belief that is solely Christian. How is being made happy by someone who is a Christian different to being made happy by someone who is an Atheist? And, are you implying that Atheists don't make others happy?

Yes, because all Christians never have any of the listed attributes. A quick fact for you, courtesy of EvilBible.com, is that about 76% of all violent criminals in American prisons are Christian, and no, the majority of them did not convert to Christianity while in jail. To be perfectly honest, I've been treated more kindly by Atheists in my life than I have been by Christians.

So, instead of coming to terms with the fact that you've done something wrong, it's better to just think that it doesn't matter because you've been forgiven by your God?

Any evidence besides the Bible that supports this? I believe in self development, meaning that developing your own morals are far more important than conforming to the morals written by others. Since becoming an Atheist, my life has been far better than it was as a Christian. So, for me it appears, the Christian God actually made things worse.
