Do you believe in the decision to execute former dictator Saddam Hussein?
On Sunday, November 5, 2006, the High Tribunal in Iraq sentenced the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to death by hanging for crimes against humanity (ordering the murder of 148 Shi'ite residents in 1982).
The former Iraqi dictator and 6 subordinates were convicted and sentenced for the 1982 killings of 148 people in a single Shiite town after an attempt on his life there. The 9 month trial had inflamed Iraq and 3 defense lawyers and a witness were murdered in the course of its 39 sessions.
Saddam was found hiding with an unfired pistol in a hole in the ground near his home village north of Baghdad in December 2003, 8 months after he fled the capital ahead of advancing American troops.
22 months later, he went on trial for ordering the torture and murder of 148 Shiites from the city of Dujail. Saddam said that ordering the massacre was legal, because they had conspired to assassinate him and those who were killed had been found guilty in a legitimate Iraqi court in 1982.
Do you believe executing Saddam Hussein is the moral or ethical thing to do in this circumstance?

Well I am not to sure on this one. After all that he has done he should die, but if you think about it death is the easy way out. If he does lifetime in prison doing community service then that would be just as good or an even better punishment than the death penalty.
he should be put to death for sure. for example we have people that import drugs and that get put to death straight away or put in jail for the rest of there lives. he planned to kill millions and millions of people ! .. he has even gotten people to kill themselfs for there country any one that can do or even think about doing that to people shouldnt be living FULL STOP!!..
B Roccisano made a semi good Point hate to bring up the Religion thing but Eh it happends in like all of these blogs..... Any one who belives in a God belives in forgivness and that 1 shall never take anothers life now i belive that 2 but acording to the Bible soz if im wrong in one of the 10 comandmants dosnt it say somthing along the lines of thalst shall not kill well then Y doz America have the Death sentance? i thought Bush was Christian... so what doz that mean..... So acording to the Christian Faith Sadam must not be put to death.... but which Court system are we working with its starting to confuse me 1 sec its Iraqy then its American What System is being used! So i think the question is. doz the American Justice System realy Revolve around the Bible as Bush says it doz well iv gone on a bit but i think he shouldnt b put to death but i can see why heaps of people want him dead and B Roccisano What gives you or any body the Right to say who should b liveing or not?
i think Saddam should be tortued then hung. he should not be allowed to be shot by the firing squad as he is asking. he made so many people suffer. so many people die and whenever i think about him my insides burn with anger. he has to be one of the most disgusting human beings i have ever known about. he loves to kill. he makes others kill for him. no one should ever dictate people like that. he should have to go through the same pain that he caused. like b roccisano said, "people get killed for smuggling drugs" a perfect example of this is the bali 9. i have no respect for saddam hussein. i find him revolting.
ladies and gentlemen i believe that Saddam Hussein should not be put to death. If someone killed the whole world i still wouldn't want that person dead why may you ask? Because god chose a time for us to die, we don't just hang people just because they have done something wrong? Listen, God gave us a life to live no to help kill other people. With all those people
Saddam killed adding 1 more person wouldn't make a difference to the world, would it? Don't you see that by killing Saddam just like he killed those people where as bad as him? Is this the future we want to see a future when someone kills people, we kill that person.

'You may not hate other people; don't ever think of hurting someone else in any way.'
Are we going to stand here and let God commandments be destroyed? IF so what is our society coming to?
We have also been receving threats from Saddams followers that they will kill people if Saddam gets hanged. Imagine the terror and destruction that will go on for days, when will there be an end?
God wants us to love everyone not to hate people and where not doing that. I would like to read you

See God deals with the evil and sinful not us. We also shouldn't act like we do.
I'm sure the Iraqi judicial system has their reasons for sentencing Saddam to death and we should respect their decision. He killed 148 people and people are executed daily for killing a tiny fraction of that amount of people. Also, not executing Saddam because of threats from his followers is just plain cowardly.
Do we have to drag religion into this?
It would be a good idea to remember our religion. We should never misjudge it nor misleade it and deny it.
Yes, he may have killed heaps of people, but you even say yourself killing is not right, so why kill Saddam? I'm amazed that you put a stand to killing but not to Saddams death. Why is this?
I am for Saddam's death, I'm just saying that people should stop saying that it's an unsuitable punishment. We have to recognise that the death penalty is accepted as justice in Iraq and that to allow them to deal out their own justice. We have to allow them to impose the penalties they think best. Otherwise the notion that they have their own sovereign government is rendered absurd.
Also, Sherbert, Saddam is being punished by the Iraqi Court and not the American Court.
I think Saddam Hussein should be given the worst death sentence ever. He has killed that many lives it’s not funny. He is a cruel, mean, lowlife, stone hearted thing that is not a human being. He should have the most cruellest, meanest, disgustingest death sentence that has ever recorded in the history of death sentences.
Everyone deserves a second chance so why shouldn't have he. We just killed him and did anything happen did God shower us with his happiness did you win a million dollars no all that happened was people where happy because we killed someone.
We have changed, changed into a world that celebrates when a leader dies,but cry when he killed others. Why?
