Testing Nuclear Weapons

What are your views on countries testing nuclear weapons?

By testing a nuclear weapon recently, North Korea becomes the 9th country to have a nuclear arsenal. The country was given reactor technology and expertise by several countries, had made the mandatory promises to use that power for energy, not weapons, however they have broken the terms of the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons Treaty (NPT).

Under the terms of the Treaty, those countries with nuclear weapons agreed to eliminate their weapons within 25 years. In return, the countries that did not possess nuclear weapons agreed not to manufacture or acquire nuclear weapons.

7 other nations have demonstrated their nuclear capabilities:

  • United States of America

  • The Russian Federation

  • The United Kingdom

  • France

  • China

  • India

  • Pakistan

Israel is known to have nuclear weapons, but has never admitted as much, and never claimed responsibility for an explosive nuclear test. And due to the widespread use of nuclear energy about 40 other countries have access to nuclear weapons material and therefore possess the ability to develop nuclear weapons.

to me this is quite scary stuff, but what is the point of having nuclear weapons? why? it doesn't make any sense, these weapons are dangerous and can wipe out a number of countries at once what's the point of that?

I don't see the point of having nuclear weapons either.

There are so many on our Earth that they would not just wipe out one country, they would blow the world up 10 times!

Nuclear weapons don't only kill the target. They absolutely vapourise millions innocent people.

As for testing, this endangers communities and ecosystems and there is really no point.

The North Korean leaders are just stupid right now. They are dishonest and sinister and they are infuriating the whole world, especially the people who have also signed the agreement.

But there is nothing we can do. If we stop them, they bomb us.

After hearing about the capabilities of North Korea's nuclear missiles and researching their relationships with other countries I don't feel worried.
Their nuclear capabilities are frankly, pathetic, and should they ever choose to fire one of their missiles, assuming it leaves their territory, the countries they would be aiming for would be South Korea and Japan.

I don't like the fact that Nuclear weopons even exist. It is scary to think on the fact that they are accually testing them and one day they will be used in war to kill alot of people. I am against the whole thing.

nuclear weapons BIG NO NO it is very strupuid and point less if some1 want to controll the world why would they blow it up and make it uninhabitable?

Even after the nuclear weapon has been tested, it leaves behind traces of radioactive particles. That would be damaging to any enviroment. I know that the US has tested nuclear warheads under the sea and in space. Isn't it scary thinking of the particles that make mutants raining down on us, or in the water we fish in?
