Single sex schools

Do boys and girls benefit more from being taught together or separately?
What are your views?

i believe that some students would benefit from same sex schools. and i think that is the parents that need to wake up and see this. its pretty obvious if your child is going to be one who flirts with the opposite sex so wouldnt putting the child into a same sex school help them to learn more??

hey i dont believe in this because young childern going on to young adults wouldnt know how to react with difrent sexes. and wouldnt try to comunicate with each other andn i dont think its right

i agree with s talent because if we dont have experience from a young age, then how would we go when we get a job and have to deal with it in the workplace?? you wont know anything about the way the opposite sex thinks or acts.
It would cause people our age to sneak out more and do more drastic things to be with the opposite sex rather than just being with them at school

ok guys i can see your point although i still think for SOME people this would be a good idea. it would help people to settle down and not get distracted by the opposite sex. and yes, they would be able to interact with the opposite sex because they could meet up with other schools. as in other same sex schools. a very good friend of mine was enrolled in a same sex school until he moved to a new town that didnt have a same sex school. he agrees with me that some people get distracted by the opposite sex and they dont do any or not enough school work. at this particular school, an all boys school, they used to spend their lunch and recess times with an all girls school just down the street. they also used to verse them in interschool sports comps. he thinks they are better schools than co ed!!!

and also, it is a proven fact that boys learn differently to girls and at a same sex school the teachers teach can teach the sex in the way that they learn!!!!

i see your point now, a ferguson, i guess it really depends on the personality of the student. If you were a girl that got along with boys better or the other way around, it wouldnt be very benificial but if you were the type to flirt and get distracted then yes, separate boys and girls schools are good.
I think it would be good to have boys and girls in the same school but just have separate classes or just separate core subjects, like maths, english, science, etc and have the electives together because they dont involve as much need for concentration and it doesnt matter so much if you get a not so good grade.

hello i deside i might join the conversation

personaly no way!

i can see the point if you want a really good education. also some people might behave badly around the opposite sex and that distraction might need to be remove from their life until they are more mature

in life you will need to learn to interact with the opposit sex and learning is easyest when your young

for now(and ever) i think i'll just stick with co-ed

i think that it depends on the kind of person. Some people flirt with other sexes and it keeps them down a few grades. Other people are shy and i think that being around other people will influence them to acctually go talk. The other thing is kids these days need to be friends with other sexes to not just male male or female female and i think sending them to a moxed sexes school is better.

It doesnt matter i believe. it can be a good thing. less distractions, less fighting (over oppisite sex).. but then going to a boy and girl school can teach boys and girls to interact. out in the big world we have to learn to work with each other

I think schools should be made single sex schools because I think bothy sexes work well with someone of the same sex. It also lets them bond.

Look, I think that some work better with the same sex, however,I think that schools with both sexes brings up different experiences... e.g.guy friends, relatinships, etc.
I don't think I can stand going to a all girl school because they tend to be (more so) catty, and normally the guyz break it up!!!

it depends on the person, and your views on the subject. I personally wouldn't send my children to a same sex school, co ed all the way.
Kids need to learn to interact with the opposite sex and have a normal upbringing with them.
It's like children need to go to kindergarten to learn social skills before they go to school, otherwise they'll end up having no friends at school. It's the same with one sex schools. People need to go to a co ed school so when thye get a job, they can interact with the opposite sex easily.

I think that boys and girls should be taught together because the students have more of a opportunity to socialise and mix with other students.

I believe that single sex schools is not a very good idea at all. there are people in society that are completely for or completely against same sex schools so I guess it goes both ways, but my opinion is that I believe that there will be an increase in a homosexual society. people will tend to bend to the same sidfe in same sex schools when being subjected to the same sex all of the time at the same sex schools.

Single Sex schools can benefit some students and stretch their education, but after the students graduate from the single sex, they are now eligible to start their careers. When they enter the workforce, they are going to have to work with the opposite sex, whether they want to or not.
Then again, if the student knows this, there is no issue in attending a single sex school
