What do you think about alcohol?

Up for discussion:

Should the sale and consumption of alcohol – the world’s favourite drug – be further restricted, or even banned?

Hello

I think alcohol is a drug that is abused way to much. A ban would be good but highly impractical because too many people drink it and a lot of people are employed in the process of wine making.

I think the 0.05 limit should be droped and alcohol related charges should be toughened. mayde pubs should restrict the amount of alcohol given to each person.

A fair comment made by E Caldecott. It maybe very unrealistic to ban this 'socially acceptable' drug, however quite plausible to restrict the consumption in such places as pubs. If more people drank in the privacy of their own homes, perhaps there would be less vehicles accidents or drink related crimes? What do you think?

hey

i think that if people get court out twice
(or something like that) for being over the limit they should have a month ban on achole. but its just unfair for the people who dont drink very often and when they do they dont get drunk.but i also agree with eliza

When you are drunk, you are intoxicated, meaning "poisoned". Responsible drinking is okay, but binge drinking and drink spiking are unhealthy and wrong.

Alcohol is used WAY too much these days.

I feel that social drinking to relax is okay, but only if you know how much your body can handle and are over 18yrs.

Age limits have been applied on alcohol because it affects the way we think and can lead to death. Underage drinking is wrong.

I have made a personal decision not to drink alcohol for many reasons, but I encourage everyone to be responsible when you do drink.

Erica says
well i think that alcohol should not b banned but b a little bit more restricked because some ppl drink alcohol to make them feel better wen they are depressed but sometimes it makes them feel much worse and somtimes they mite commit sooerside!
KATE SAYS!
some people just drink like one galss a week this can be good after all people drank in the bible but only a little. The bible also says you can drink but not to get drunk. I also agree with e caldecott.

I agree with e caldecott people abuse alchol way to much and in many ways to count. By reducing the limit and toughing our rules we may just be able to catch out those people. But the problem is people drink for reliegon too, not just coz their depresse dnat they want something to calm the depression and leave the drinker numb (not saying i had any!!!!)

If people are stupid enough to throw away their lives and their money to a drink, they should be able to. The same applies to smoking. People know that it's bad for them and that it costs them money, but, if they are stupid enough to not stop it, they shouldn't complain about any consequences that spout from it. They shouldn't then be allowed to use the claim that they were drunk in the case that they commit crimes. They should still receive the exact same punishment as they would if they weren't drunk.

People drink to take there mind off the owrld mostly when there stressed or depressed. think about it if they ban alchol when we get to the age of 18 we will never knoe what it tastes like and it really is quite funny sometimes when you see your parents or elatives drunk.

But you see drinking isnt the same as smoking as people may sometimes say that smoking are the same both bad and addictive. Well people that drink can stop easily but people that smoke cant. You see since the new adds have come up about smoking the tobacco companies have started to loose customers and money.
So that they don't become bankrupt the tobacco companies have been putting in three times as much nicotine than usual. so if you really wanted to stop you woul dhave to try really hard.

But that doesn't mean alchol can't become addictive too. An alcholic may become addictied to alchol and would want more but they can give up anytime unlike the smoker.

I know quite confusing...

Please tell me if you disagree or agree?...

Alcoholics can't just give up at any time. Alcohol may not be as addictive as cocaine or nicotine, but it still is a very addictive substance. Indeed, some people find alcohol more addictive than nicotine, because alcohol, in the quantities that it is sometimes drunk in, sends the body to a more relaxed point than nicotine, and many people find it incredibly hard to cope without the ability to instantly go to a happy place via the use of alcohol.

i disagree i reckon they are both addictive in different wyas and different signs and symptoms may occur in both nicotine and alchol

No because wat other way are you gonna get drunk. If it is band people will be protesting and they will get agressive because some people are alcoholic and they just need a drink.

Alcohol is a drink made to have some fun and get rid of your troubles. I think it is perfectly fine to have alcohol.
