This scene took place on a British Airways flight between Johannesburg, South Africa and London, England. A white woman, about 50 years old, was seated next to a black man. Obviously disturbed by this, she called the air hostess. "You obviously do not see it then?" she responded. "You placed me next to a black man. I do not agree to sit next to someone from such a repugnant group. Give me an alternative seat." "Be calm please," the hostess replied. "Almost all the places on this flight are taken. I will go to see if another place is available." The hostess went away and then came back a few minutes later. "Madam, just as I thought, there are no other available seats in the Economy Class. I spoke to the captain and he informed me that there is also no seat in the Business Class. All the same, we still have one place in the First Class."
Before the woman could say anything, the hostess continued. "It is not usual for our company to permit someone from the Economy Class to sit in the First Class. However, given the circumstances, the captain feels that it would be scandalous to make someone sit next to someone sooooo disgusting." She turned to the black guy, and said, "Therefore, Sir, if you would like to, please collect your hand luggage, a seat awaits you in First Class."
At that moment, the other passengers, who'd been shocked by what they had just witnessed, stood up and applauded.
This email has been making the rounds and I received it late in 2005. I thought as it is a true story, I would post this on my blog site to ask if any of you have experienced, seen or heard any racist situations. If you have and comfortable in sharing, I would love to hear how it made you feel and how you reacted in that situation.

this article made me feel sick, how could someone be that racist? i think the airlines did the right thing, is this what people are becoming today?. It does not matter what someone's skin colour is, what matters is the inside stuff.

I would of loved to of seen the look on the ladiez face when the man was sent to first class. i mean would hate to have had to sit next to that lady to. i'm sure she'd pick fault with anyone
what the woman said was repolsive it was down right rude this lady needs to learn some manners and also not lead such a rasist life. I think what the airlines did was very apropriate the man got what he deservedthat lady was disgusting.
What the airline did was AWESOME! It shows real justice and it is a change from all the usual racism. The woman got what she deserved. Not wanting to sit next to someone because of his or her skin colour is shallow.
I hope that British Airways can continue showing this kind of initiative.
that was so mean of the lady! i thought at the start that they were going to take the lady to first class, but it was good what the airways did.
i have been bullied many ways of my culture even when i was small i would sometimes sit in the shade and hope by the end of lunch my skin had gone a little lighter. In 2002 i went back to my home country after coming to Australia for 5 years in my home country iwent to school there. Even there they called me Kangaroo for coming from Australia. Oneday when i was down there some boy decided it would be funny to steal my bag that was under my desk. he grabbed one side and i the other. we pulle dand pulled until he got tired and he called his friend over and the decided +to pull together 1...2...3... they pulled and under the desk there was this huge bolt/nail type thing stiking out my hand dug into it and was a quarter of a centimetre from going threw. I told the teacher and the boys were giving a smack on the bottom with this big plank of would about 5 cm thick and 30cm long they couldnt even sit down after the wack. I still have the scar on my right hand and it always reminds me of that day. Hey they always say ur scarred for life!!!
i agree that this woman should not have been moved up to first class. to sit in first class u have to earn the right to afford it. i pity the man and i am sure he was just as thank ful to the airline. how is it fair for an average man to be labelled disgusting just because of his skin colour? he could have been the nicest person on earth! that lady passed up a great opportunity to find out about someone that was from a different race yet she chose to see the worst side possible in him. when did it become bad to be different? we are told everyday that it is alright to be different and it is a good thing. didnt this lady learn that lesson?? what would the earth be like if everyone was exactly the same??
i think this woman in the article is very rude. the airlines did the right thing by giving the man the first class seat instead of the racist lady. it doesn't matter what colour you are.

But it's great the man was given a better seat. i wouldn't want to sit next to that woman.

i was kind of scared when i started reading this because i thought that the airline had agreed with the woman! i thought that was disgusting but then i keep reading and it turned out to be AWESOME!!!! that lady was really rude.
